Tara Stranegger

Laureate of numerous national and international competitions, Austrian cellist Tara Stranegger (2003) currently lives in Oslo.
As a member of Scandinavian Cello School she was part of a viral sensation that featured on the front page of the New York Times and most of the world’s press (seen by 2.1 billion internationally), and she appeared at the Ball of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the Musikverein, Vienna. She was a featured artist at the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) “Friday Nights at SMK” and performed live on Denmark’s national TV2.
Following her Wirst cello lessons aged 7, she soon was admitted to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Junior Program), followed by the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (MDW – young class of Stefan KropWitsch). From 2018-2022 Tara received lessons from Jacob Shaw and currently is a student of Torleif Thedé en at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. She has taken part in masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Wolfgang Emmanuel Schmidt, Troels Svane, Wen-Sinn Yang, Matias de Oliveira Pinto, Danjulo Ishisaka and Reinhard Latzko.She plays a cello by Giovanni Lazzarro (2008).
Tara is also a keen piano player (winner of 1st prize at the Austrian National Competition).
