Lara Biancalana

Lara Biancalana started playing the cello at six and attended the Santa Cecilia Conservatoire in Rome before moving to England. In 2018, supported by a scholarship, she moved to The Menuhin School, where she was taught by Thomas Carroll, Matthijs Broersma, and Adrian Brendel. In 2022, she earned her Bachelor’s degree with top marks, high praise and honorable mention. She is now studying with Andreas Brantelid at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and with Antonio Meneses at the Stauffer Center for Strings.
The Society of Concerts in Milan selected Lara as Artist in Residence for their 2022/2023 season. In 2021, she was chosen to participate to Mit Musik Miteinander at the Kronberg Academy. Lara is one of the 2021 scholarship recipients of the Cucinelli Foundation Prize. Since the same year, she has been a member of the LGT Young Soloists performing at the Elbphilharmonie, Concertgebouw, Tonhalle in Zurich, Casino in Bern and Basel, Liszt Hall in Geneva, and many others.
Her concert debut took place in 2016 at the Ravenna Festival, where she was invited by cellist Giovanni Sollima as a young and promising talent. Since then, she has shared the stage with musicians such as Roman Simovic, Salvatore Accardo, Enrico Pace, and Itamar Golan. Since 2019 she has been supported by Musica con le Ali, a project dedicated to the best young Italian musicians. She has performed in concert seasons such as Ridotto del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, La Fenice Theatre in Venice, IUC-La Sapienza University Concert Season, The Menuhin Hall, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Heidelberger Frühling Festival, and Copenhagen Summer Festival.
She had masterclasses with Colin Carr, Brannon Cho, Kian Soltani, Thomas Demenga, Frans Helmerson, Sol Gabetta, and Steven Isserlis.
