Kaat Schraepen

Kaat started to play the viola at the age of seven at the music academy in Diest (Belgium). When she was a child, she was immediately attracted to the warm sound of the viola and fascinated by the different clef. Since 2012 Kaat has been studying with Julia Dinerchtein in Maastricht (Netherlands).
She has given several concerts in Diest (Belgium), the Netherlands, Cividale del Friuli (Italy). She was pleased to have the opportunity of playing in the Schumann House and the Mendelssohn House in Leipzig (Germany). Kaat has won several solo prizes as well as a prize for chamber music (piano quintet).

  • First prize at the Concours Européen pour Jeunes Solistes in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
  • Third prize (solo viola) at the Prinses Christina Concours Regio Zuid 2 in the Netherlands
  • Youth prize (chamber music) at the Prinses Christina Concours Regio Zuid 2 in the Netherlands
  • Youth prize from the Dutch Viola Society at the Britten Altvioolconcours in the Netherlands

  • Second prize at the Prinses Christina Concours Regio Zuid 2 in the Netherlands
